Warmer Westbury Homes Fair

On Saturday 16th November 2024, SusWoT held a fair in Westbury-on-Trym Village Hall for local residents interested in having a warmer home, lower energy bills and feeling good about being greener.

For those worried that it would cost an arm and a leg to improve their home, or that the work would turn their house into a building site or just didn’t know where to start, the fair offered the opportunity to talk both to experts and to local people who’d made some improvements and wanted to share their experience of work they have done. There was something for everyone, whatever stage they were at in improving their home – from easy DIY to hi-tech installations like solar panels and air source heat pumps and everything in between.

There were exhibitors covering DIY, loft and external insulation, windows, infrared heaters, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR), solar panels, batteries and air source heat pumps. And as every home is different, even supposedly identical houses in the same street, a range of energy assessors were on hand who can survey homes and advise on the best solutions.

In the “I Did It” presentations, local residents shared ways in which they had reduced energy consumption.

The event was supported by Retrofit West – funded by West of England Mayoral Combined Authority through the Green Recovery Fund – to promote improved home energy efficiency across the region.
