The annual Westbury-on-Trym village show was held on Saturday 7th September and despite the damp weather, more than 700 people attended.
Many people were interested in what SusWoT does. Some were interested in the all-day energy event SusWoT will be running on Saturday 16th November at the Village Hall. Some signed up to help keep our streets clean, and one couple took litter picking equipment to get started straight away!
Our new councillors wanted to learn about the issues with the Trym and offered to help promote the Energy Day.
There were three SusWoT classes:
- Section O: Class 92 ‘A Plant in a Pot that Produces Edible Produce e.g. Tomato, Chilli or Pepper from a seed or plant from any source’
- Class 93 ‘A Vegetarian Dish (sweet or savoury) where the main ingredient is home grown’
- Class 94 ‘A video maximum duration 90 seconds on the theme of the 4 R ’s Reduce, Repair, Recycle, or Repurpose (Reuse)’
The increase in entries for these classes was pleasing. Although there were not many entries for the video competition, the entries for vegetarian dishes and the edible plants were both more than double previous years’ entries.
