From Autumn 2011, we have been developing a community garden and on 9th June 2012 we celebrated with the official opening as part of Bristol’s Get Growing Trail.
The aims in the design of the garden are:
- be accessible
- be restful / relaxing
- be wildlife friendly
- have seating
- contain productive, edible planting
- contain unusual planting
- provide year round interest
- be informal
- be sustainable (any features / furniture should be made from sustainable materials)
- provide flexible growing space
- consider the prevailing environmental factors (direction of sun and wind, lack of water on plot, legacy features e.g. concrete posts)
