Community Garden official opening

From Autumn 2011, we have been developing a community garden and on 9th June 2012 we celebrated with the official opening as part of Bristol’s Get Growing Trail.

The aims in the design of the garden are:

  • be accessible
  • be restful / relaxing
  • be wildlife friendly
  • have seating
  • contain productive, edible planting
  • contain unusual planting
  • provide year round interest
  • be informal
  • be sustainable (any features / furniture should be made from sustainable materials)
  • provide flexible growing space
  • consider the prevailing environmental factors (direction of sun and wind, lack of water on plot, legacy features e.g. concrete posts)
